Your nose is more than just an aesthetic component to your face; it impacts every single breath you take. Whether you are considering surgery to assist you in better breathing or want a cosmetic change, you need our rhinoplasty Aventura. Dr. Jeremy White at ARC Plastic helps people to look better and breathe easily. If you are interested in making an appointment to discuss rhinoplasty, contact us at (305) 501-2000.
As the most central feature of your face, the nose ties together your overall aesthetic look. When the nose is asymmetrical, disproportionately large or small, bulgy, or otherwise misshapen, it can lend an unbalanced appearance to the entire face. Under a skilled plastic surgeon, a rhinoplasty, more commonly known as a "nose job," can be performed to correct these issues and achieve the nose appearance that is balanced and in harmony with the rest of your features. There are two main types of rhinoplasty:
Whichever method is used to gain access to the internal structures of the nose, the surgeon will then add, remove, and/or rearrange bone, cartilage, and soft tissue or fascia (the thin covering of fibrous tissue on the nose). When adding tissue is necessary, it can often be harvested from the nasal septum, ear, or temple region. This is particularly common with revision rhinoplasties, where the surgeon is correcting a previous surgeon’s errors, as it is sadly far too common for an inexperienced plastic surgeon to remove too much cartilage or bone during the first procedure.
Before you undergo the rhinoplasty procedure with our rhinoplasty Aventura surgeon, you will schedule an appointment to discuss your goals, any existing medical conditions and medications you currently take, and answer any questions you may have. We always want to be as clear as possible regarding the goals of the procedure and what is reasonable to expect in terms of results. In this interest, your surgeon will likely provide you with a series of digitally altered images to discuss the different possibilities for your nose and hear your reactions and feedback to each. This is particularly important in the case of revision rhinoplasties, where the damage already done may limit the results that can be achieved through subsequent surgeries.
In cases where your desire for a nose job is related to breathing issues, the surgeon may also want to insert a scope into your nose prior to scheduling the surgery, to better understanding the underlying cause of your breathing difficulties. Even with the best surgeon and the best preparation, it is always possible that the surgeon will find something unexpected during a rhinoplasty procedure, so it is always important to have realistic expectations and to maintain an open dialogue with the surgeon about the results you can expect. We will plan a date for your procedure and provide you with instructions to follow.
Whether your primary concerns involve breathing issues or you want to improve the aesthetic appearance of your nose, you don’t have to wait to schedule the “nose job” or rhinoplasty you want. With such an important structure that has such a significant impact on your facial appearance, don’t trust just any surgeon. Make sure the surgeon you see is a board-certified plastic surgeon with a history of excellence. To schedule an appointment with our rhinoplasty surgeon in Aventura, contact ARC Plastic Surgery. You need to arrange for someone to drive you after your rhinoplasty, as you will be unable to operate a vehicle after the procedure. You will need to take a few days off work to recover and rest. You will arrive at our surgery center, and we prepare you for your surgery. The anesthesiologist will administer the anesthetic so that the procedure is pain-free. A typical rhinoplasty takes one to three hours to complete, and a revision rhinoplasty may take longer. Dr. White in Aventura can provide you with all the details about how the surgery will be performed, how long it should take, and the expected recovery time as well as expectations on final appearance.
After your procedure, our Aventura rhinoplasty surgeon will provide you with aftercare instructions. Soreness, slight swelling, and bruising after the procedure are normal. However, if you develop a fever, smelly discharge from the incision site, or excessive swelling, contact the office at once. Most patients have no complications and all get a follow-up visit shortly after the procedure to ensure all is proceeding as it should.
